In this issue of E-ssentials (Our Final Issue)
January 2006 (Vol. 6, No. 1)
Our final issue includes a variety of segments highlighting many areas of ministry and needs. Sanctity of Life describes the struggles of a nineteen year old college freshman who finds herself pregnant and being pulled in many different directions. Our Song Story tells how God uses each of us, young and old, day or night, to serve His needs, if and when we are willing. There is a beautiful visual illustration of Christ's reference to The Vine that is sure to capture your audience's attention. As always our Factoids are timely and to the point while this issue's Word on the Street delivers a slant on an age old question, Do you believe in heaven and hell?

"It's as though you are going nowhere fast." We all feel that way from time to time and more often than not we need a helping hand to get through it. Connect with the power of cooperation illustrated in a stuck vehicle and friends that come along at just the right time to help. "Two are better than one..."

Sermon Illustration: "Sanctity of Life”
|
Nineteen, a freshman in college and pregnant. This is not supposed to happen; after all, her entire life is before her. What does she do? The young man simply walks away, her family presses for abortion while the guilt and shame drive her into uncontrollable weeping, crying out to the Savior. In the end God prevails in her life and Isaiah is born. This is a story of a mother, a child of God.

Vision for Giving: "Jeff Ford"
|
Gulf Shores, Alabama, is a "snowbirds" haven from the winter time blues. Jeff Ford has discovered a lost and hurting world exists throughout the endless rows of recreational vehicles inhabited by retirees. Benefiting from the Cooperative Program, Jeff is able to reach out, offer God's love, and hold church services tuned just for them. Jeff finds inspiration in being around these snowbirds and they discover eternal life through Jesus Christ because Southern Baptists care enough to give.

Missionary POV: "Kirk and Laura Boes"
|
From riding the waves off Maui to skiing the downhill slopes at Whistler, British Columbia we learn once again God has a sense of humor. Resort missionaries Kirk and Laura Boes were called from the tropical islands of Hawaii to start a church and minister in the winter fun parks of western Canada. Their contagious energy and passion for the people are relected through the Church on the Mountain.
